Pie and Mash Films are a local film company known for their collection of gritty thought provoking British independent films and cutting edge documentaries.
We will be showing the award winning “Lunatic – Gangster Without a Gun” (awarded ‘Best International Feature’ at the New York International Film & Video Festival awards 25 June 2008.)
“Bill and Perry are a pair of entrepreneur chancers. The duo make a living out of a scam that allows them to collect rent from ex-council properties. But things aren’t as rosy as they seem and with an impending full moon, Bill and Perry are about to find out that anything can happen.”
Director (and Hither Green resident) Bill Maloney will be on hand to talk about Pie and Mash Films, his latest documentary investigations and what it takes to run for mayor of London.
Tickets (£3) are available from Cafe of Good Hope on Hither Green Lane and on the door at 7.30pm, The Station Hotel Pub, 14 Staplehurst Road, Hither Green, London, SE13 5NB on Friday 25th May. Over 18s only.

Olympic fever starts early in Hither Green with the showing of the 1980s animated film Animalympics.
If you haven’t seen this one yet, you’ve got to. If you love movies about animation, animals and/or sports, “Animalympics” is the perfect movie for you!
Featuring the voice talents of Billy Crystal and Gilda Radner, the writing and directorial talents of Steven Lisberger (of “TRON” fame), plus an awesome soundtrack by 10CC’s Graham Gouldman, “Animalympics” is a wonderful film that can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter how young or old.
Tickets (50p for kids of all ages) are available in advance at the Arts Fayre on 19th May, from the Cafe of Good Hope or on the door at St Swithuns Hall off Hither Green Lane & Ennersdale Road, on Saturday 27th May 1pm.

So here we are at the last screening of our 2011/12 season and we have a Best of British double bill. Two completely different generations and humour but both classics in their own right.

Blithe Spirit – Cert U

David Lean directs one of our favourites, Rex Harrison (who appeared on our first ever film event night in ‘My Fair Lady’) and Margaret Rutherford in the Noel Coward screen play. When local medium Madame Arcati (Margaret Rutherford) holds a séance Charles Condimines’ (Rex Harrison) first wife Elvira (Kay Hammond) is contacted. His second wife, Ruth (Constance Cummings) is not happy as she won’t go away!

Withnail & I – Cert 15

two unemployed actors, Withnail (Richard E. Grant) and Marwood (Paul McGann), decide to leave their Camden flat for Withnail’s uncle Monty’s country cottage. But when they get there, things turn from bad to worse as there is no food but constant rain and then to make matters even worse Uncle Monty shows up and has a roaming eye for Marwood….

***STOP PRESS***

Shauna Wyldeck-Estrada who worked on Withnail & I in the Costume Department will be present before the film (approx. 8.15pm) to take any questions about the making of the film. She was on set for the whole thing so will know a secret or too!! Don’t miss it!!

******

Entry for the double bill is a low £5, doors will open at 6pm on Sunday 1st April so you can get a drink and some food and find a seat before the first film (Blithe Spirit) starts at 6.30pm. Tickets are on sale at Cafe of Good Hope on Hither Green Lane and You Don’t Bring me Flowers on Staplehurst Road and will be available on the door.

The bar will be open with a selection of wines and beers from the Meantime Brewery, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and homemade cakes, with freshly made pizza and popcorn made on site.

Come by for this season finale, just bring a cushion and we will treat you like one of our own at St Swithun’s Hall, St Swithun’s Road off of Hither Green Lane and Ennersdale Road SE13 6RW.
